When these clients built a new home in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood in Clarkesville, Georgia, they desired to have a cottage style garden along their inviting front porch. Their goal was to create a sit-down-and-talk-for-a-while kind of atmosphere for their visitors and family. Thus, we immediately began scheming up design plans with lots of wildflowers, butterfly-loving plants, and spilling over the brim hanging planters. The effect was etheral.

During the planning process, we decided to use sod for the front lawn and matching black mulch to accent the dark features of the house. Once that was decided, then came the fun part-planning plants. It needed to have a soft and flowy feel. So, while layering the look of the plants in sections, we tied in together some of our favorites like evergreen abelias, gardenias, and boxwoods with softer florals like hydrangeas, asters, and gaura. The finishing touch was adding front porch planters full of ferns amidst the new furniture.
